The 5GMETA consortium is happy to announce that the jurors of the Second Hackathon have been confirmed.
The distinguished panel of jurors will inspire and evaluate Hackathon participants and their work: a unique opportunity for “Hackathoners” to get in touch with some of the most influential business and mobility experts. We are happy to share some information about our esteemed panel.
- Maddalena Lauzi – Senior Investment Analyst @ Dealflow.eu
Maddalena Lauzi is a Double Master’s Degree Graduate in International Management at Bocconi and Fudan Universities. During her studies, she worked as a Business Analyst at Luxottica before joining Dealflow.eu, Maddalena worked in an EdTech accelerator based in London for one year where she helped start-ups strategically and in their fundraising process. At Dealflow.eu Maddalena oversees the Space, Transport and Mobility industries and she helps innovation within these industries to scale up.
- Jesús Alonso-Zarate – Chairman of 5G-PPP’s “5G for CAM” Working Group. i2CAT
Jesús Alonso-Zarate is the chairman of 5G-PPP’s “5G for CAM” Working Group. Since March 2021, he is with the i2CAT Foundation, a CERCA and TECNIO-labelled research and innovation center located in Barcelona, and focused on advanced digital technologies, such as 5G, 5G+, 6G, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Space Communications, Immersive Media Applications (Virtual and Augmented reality), and the interaction between technology and society. He is the Director of the European Commission Research and Innovation Policy and Strategy, as well as the Director of the 6G Programme at i2CAT. On November 2019, he was awarded the “Young Researcher Award 2019” by the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering for his research career.
- François Fischer – Huawei Technologies R&D
François Fischer holds an Engineer diploma (Master) in electrical engineering and information technologies. He is working for Huawei Technologies R&D as expert leader for Mobility, Maps and Location Intelligence, with a particular focus on Standardisation, regulation and Industry Alliances. He follows several standardisation groups dealing with mobility and maps, ISO TC22 and TC211, Car Connectivity Consortium and OGC. He is chair of the steering board and chair of the mobility working group at the Alliance of IOT Innovation (AIOTI). He coordinated several EU funded actions like AUTOPILOT or 5G-MOBIX dealing with Autonomous driving powered by 5G and IoT.
- Susana Sargento – University of Aveiro, Institute of Telecommunications
Susana Sargento is a Full Professor in the University of Aveiro and a senior researcher in the Instituto de Telecomunicaçoes, where she is leading the Network Architectures and Protocols group. She was a visiting PhD student in Rice University (2000-2001), and a Guest Faculty in Carnegie Mellon University (2008). Susana has been leading research projects with telecom operators and OEMs. She has been involved in several FP7 projects (4WARD, Euro-NF, C-Cast, WIP, Daidalos, C-Mobile), EU Coordinated Support Action 2012-316296 “FUTURE-CITIES”, EU Horizon 2020 5GinFire, EU Steam City, and CMU-Portugal projects (S2MovingCity, DRIVE-IN with the Carnegie Melon University) and MIT-Portugal Snob5G project. She has organized several international conferences and workshops, such as ACM MobiCom, IEEE Globecom, and has also been a reviewer of conferences and journals, such as IEEE Networks, IEEE Communications. Susana has co-founded a vehicular networking company in 2012, Veniam, she is the winner of the 2016 EU Prize for Women Innovators, and the winner of Femina 2020 prize in Science. She was the co-coordinator of the national initiative of digital competences in the research axis INCoDe.2030, belonged to the evaluation committee of the Fundo200M (www.200m.pt), and she is one of the Scientific Directors of CMU-Portugal Programme. Her main research interests, with more than 400 scientific papers, are in the areas of self-organised networks, Intelligent Transportation Systems, 5G and beyond networks and services, and content distribution networks. She regularly acts as an Expert for European Research Programmes.
